“Stage Setting Events”

Scripture gives us the broad outline as to how end time events will unfold but there are many twists and turns along the road that are not always easy to interpret. Still, we can see the pieces of the prophetic puzzle slowly and steadily coming together.

We list some of the events of this past week which seem to be a part of that unfolding scenario.

On Sept. 27, Hamid Alipour, director of the government-owned Iran Information Technology Company, openly admitted that his country was under cyber attack by a worm that "is mutating and wreaking further havoc on computerized industrial equipment in Iran."

News reports have indicated that the Bushehr nuclear plant will not begin functioning until spring, and perhaps the delay will be indefinite. It has been suggested that the virus has also infected the whole Iranian missile program. The suggestion is that Iran will not know if their missiles will function until they try to use them.

The scripture indicates that Israel will not be destroyed with nuclear weapons. The other indication we have from scripture is that Iran will not be involved in a war with Israel until the war of Ezekiel 38-39, which takes place early in the tribulation period.

It seems to me we are seeing the Lord intervening in Iran to preserve this scriptural scenario.

This week it has been revealed that Syria and Iran are pushing Hezbollah to bring down the Lebanese government and seize control of Lebanon. The suggestion is that this coupe should take place after the visit of Ahmadinejad to Lebanon next week (Oct. 13-14).

Obama is concerned that his peace project will be terminated by this action and he has sent a stern warning to Syria not to be involved. Israel has also stated that they will take action against Syria if this coupe takes place.

In another news report we read, “Revolutionary Guards, Iranian Flags Capture South Lebanon for Ahamdinejad’s Visit.” Already, hectic preparations for the Oct.13-14 visit have advanced to the point that Beirut and South Lebanon up to the Israeli border have been taken over. It is now a virtual Ahmadinejad-land controlled by an estimated 2,500 members of the Revolutionary Guards special security unit who were imported for the occasion. They were carried from Tehran by special airlift to Damascus whence a convoy of buses drove them to Beirut and then dispersed them across the Lebanese capital and the South.

In yet another development, the United States and Israel are watching with concern the growing military cooperation among Turkey, China, and Iran, especially following a joint Turkish-Chinese air-force exercise last week. The alliance against Israel grows bolder with each passing day.

In another troubling news item WND reported, the White House is planning intensive Israeli-Palestinian talks that aim to create the borders of a future Palestinian state within two months, according to Palestinian Authority officials speaking to WND. Some Israelis have expressed fear that Obama is planning to force a settlement on Israel, a settlement that will be acceptable to the Arabs. This will be a settlement that will perhaps be enforceable by a UN vote.

Another news item carries a warning of economic troubles, "Washington - Fears of a full-blown currency war flared as the US dollar fell to an eight-month low against the euro and the US stepped up pressure on China to let its currency rise." There are also warnings that we are on the verge of a double dip recession. A new report by the International Monetary Fund paints a brutally grim picture of the global economic outlook, warning that continued European belt-tightening combined with possible deficit-cutting in the United States could lead to a global double-dip recession.

We cannot, as I said, interpret all the twists and turns; however, we can see the stage being set for the final drama in the present age.
